Manchester United fans identify reason for Crystal Palace defeat

Image
Man Utd suffered their first Premier League loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday and fans think they know what's to blame. Manchester United fans have identified the club's lack of major activity during the summer transfer window as the reason for suffering their first ever Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace. It was a disappointing display from United who twice made mistakes which allowed Palace to score. Victor Lindelof mistimed his header in the first-half to allow Jordan Ayew go through and slot past David de Gea for the opener. United went on to dominate the second-half and had the perfect opportunity to level when Scott McTominay was fouled in the area. After Paul Pogba missed from the spot against Wolves, Marcus Rashford stepped up and hit the inside of the post. United pressed on to try and win the game but after Pogba was dispossessed, the Eagles sprang a counter attack, resulting in Patrick van Aanholt squirming the ball past De Gea at his near post. ...

EPL: Martial opens up on ‘competition’ with Rashford

Image
Manchester United forward, Anthony Martial, has said his training ground scoring competitions with Marcus Rashford, are helping to give the team an extra edge this season. Romelu Lukaku’s departure to Inter Milan has placed an extra onus upon Rashford and Martial, who have two goals apiece in the Premier League after United’s opening games against Chelsea and Wolves. Martial has regained the club’s number nine shirt and is revelling as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attacking spearhead, with Rashford operating from the left. “At training, we have this competition between us about scoring goals. “We measure who does the best finishing and who scores the most. “Who’s winning? Well, that depends… Sometimes it’s him, sometimes it’s me. In games, Marcus likes to play in the middle, like me. I don’t mind dropping off, dropping out, we interchange during games. “It doesn’t bother me to let him take the lead occasionally. It helps us to terrorise opposition defences and I hope we can k...

Perhaps only technology can unseat Man City

Image
While it’s only August, Liverpool are two points clear of City, and if you think it’s too early to be worried, just remember that City and Liverpool run-up 195 points between them last season and Liverpool lost just once and were one point short of City’s total. However, you would think City have lost the title, such has was the commotion. City had 30 shots to Spurs’ three and Guardiola’s men played superbly. Jonathan Wilson of The Guardian pointed to Guardiola’s “control freak” habits, studying and studying to look for any edge, exposing the flaws of opponents. Unlike Klopp, Pep does not “thrive on chaos”. By the spirit of the law, the decision which ruled-out Gabriel Jesus’ goal was correct. Emotionally, it was certainly a disaster, for the City fans, for the players, for Guardiola. We have reached the stage in football where technology is going to override emotion – and the fans, for one, are emotional stakeholders. The ruled-out goal will become an integral part of the game...
